What Is a Speech-language Pathologist (SLP)?
An SLP is a rehabilitative clinician specializing in the assessment of and treatment for communicative disorders. Did you know that speech-language differences and disorders are the number one qualifier for IEPs in schools? Because of this, SLPs in schools are over-burdened to provide quality services, and many children ultimately need private intervention to truly optimize their communicative outcomes.
What Will Little Heroes’ SLP Do?
As we all know, while Little Heroes provides quality services for all pediatric hearing needs, including pediatric deafness/hearing loss, our truly specialized services surround aural rehabilitation – or listening therapy – to help children with hearing differences learn to optimize their listening experiences. As such, our SLP is joining our team of aural rehabilitationists and will continue to provide listening therapy to as many of our patients as needed. However, our goal has always been to create a multi-disciplinary clinic; therefore, our SLP will also provide standard diagnostic assessments of, and treatments for, speech-language delays, articulation disorders, and oral myofunctional disorders.
When Can I Start Seeing the SLP?
Our SLP will start on July 8, 2024 and will need a few days of orientation and training before she can see clients. We will start booking therapy appointments on July 10, 2024. Does Little Heroes’ SLP Take Insurance!
We are actively working on transferring our SLP’s insurance credentialling to fall under Little Heroes. Insurance is tricky, and this might take some time. In the meantime, we are offering discounted, bundled (assessment + 8 therapy sessions) self-pay prices to help build our SLP’s client base fast.
